Even as a child I had a very loud voice, and to calm me down my father would play something on the guitar. Still today there is nothing better to me than this meditative music …

(The children’s choir soon became very boring for me. There had to be something better than singing “Hallo Julia”! )

Sometime I was allowed to appear on stage together with my father’s Jazz band singing “Girl from Ipanema”. My passion for jazz was born and I wanted to become a singer. I discovered songs from Zarah Leander, Edith Piaf and Friedrich Holländer in old music books. So, there I was on stage, at only 16 years old, dressed in a feather stole and a top hat singing “Ich weiß, es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehen”. (I know there will be a miracle one day) and the miracle happened …

I went to the Netherlands to study singing in 1999 and I only came back to Germany in 2003 when I was qualified singer.
As I liked to prowl around the garden like a cat I got the pseudonym “Kat Garden”!

Studies at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, 2006 second place at the “Troubadour” singer song writer contests at the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin “Kate Garden” solo. Second place with “Les Belles du Swing” for the “Ella-Award” (Berlin Jazz Award)
