Doro Gehr
Bandleader, Grand Piano, Accordeon and Vocal

I don’t play the piano but I play the grand piano. It’s the most beautiful instrument that exists to my eyes and ears.

I grew up in a family of musicians. My father, a church musician, mainly listened to Bach, which is why the whole family mainly listened to Bach. However one day I experienced “A Night in Tunisia”. At last! From then on lots of things changed in my ears and I left home despite my love for Bach.

Although I originally only wanted to play music, I ended up being a piano playing actress at a theatre for ten years moving from place to place.

For a long time I didn’t know what I love more, music or the theatre. What I like best is when music turns into theatre and theatre into music and it is done best by “Bach in Tunisia”.
From 1986 until 1997 I was a regular member of the ensemble at the theatre “Wilde Mischung Berlin”. This was as an actress, a pianist and a composer.
